Louie Torlone

Louie Torlone, 88, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He was born on November 14, 1924 in Logan, WV the son of the late Peter and Carmella Torlone.The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Father Dean Borgmeyer. The Rite of Committal will be at Springhill Cemetery. After moving to Huntington in 1947, where he attended Marshall University and helped establish Torlone’s Community Bakery. Mr. Torlone proudly served his country as a Marine in World War II at Iwo Jima and after an honorable discharge in 1947, he joined the Army National Guard where he trained in the Special Forces and retired in 1974 at the rank of Major.Mr. Torlone also served as a leader of Boy Scout Troop 14 for many years and served as an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of American Legion Post 16 and an avid fan of Marshall University football and basketball.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Robert and granddaughter Andrea Cumpston, a sister; Elizabeth Fischer and brothers; Dominic and Alfred.He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Theresa; children Mike (Mary Lynn) of Nashville, TN; Tom (Barbara) of San Francisco, CA; Karen (Tim) Pauley of Barboursville, WV; Kathy Torlone and Mary Beth (Jody) Burgess of Huntington. Mr. Torlone is also survived by his grandchildren: Jennifer(Scott) Wyne, Amy(Bill) Browning, Christopher Torlone, Zachary Cumpston, Scott Pauley, Mark(Ashley) Torlone and Tristan Burgess and great grandchildren: Abigail, Bella, and Cooper Browning; Tori, Asher, Sawyer and Kellan Wyne, Jacob Torlone, Aidan, Cameron and Jace Cumpston.Friends may visit from 4-7 pm Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
