Mary Eliner Morgan of Wayne County passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Hospice House of Huntington, WV. Born September 14, 1941 in McCowell County, Mary was the daughter of the late Arnold and Birdie Gautier Morgan. She was a graduate of Iaeger High School and also a graduate of West Virginia University where she received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She became a history teacher at Fairmont State College where she remained until her retirement in 2002. After retirement, she moved to Wayne County, WV. She developed new friendships by taking ceramics classes and volunteering as a docent at the Huntington Museum of Art. Mary is survived by her brother Fred (Gail)Morgan of Matewan, WV, niece, Tracy (Paul) Barrett of Hebron, Ky, nephew Dr. Brett (Robyn) Morgan of Scott Depot, grand-nephew Tristen Barrett, and grand-nieces Jadyn Barrett, Taylor Barrett, Lila Morgan, Sophia Morgan, and Lora Morgan. She is also survived by a special cousin, Alice Mertz of Scottsdale, AZ, aunt, Marie Morgan of Bluefield, WV and several cousins. She leaves behind her beloved pets Beau, Laura, Lila, Goldenrod, Maple Tree, Matewan and Charcoal. She loved reading, working puzzles, tending to her flowers and making pottery. She was a unique individual who loved learning and revered books. Visitation will take place at the Ceredo Kenova Funeral Home for 6-8 on Friday, April 30, 2010. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bluefield, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations could be to the Huntington Museum of Art or Hospice House of Huntington.
