Mary Elizabeth Bryan

MARY ELIZABETH CHAPUT BRYAN, 77, of Huntington, peacefully died in her sleep on Friday, January 25, 2019 at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, February 1. The visitation starts at 1 p.m. and the service will follow at 1:45 p.m. The burial arrangements are pending and will be determined at a later time. Mary Beth was born on July 18, 1941, a daughter of the late Raymond and Regina Chaput. She is survived by a loving and grateful family, son Hunt Bryan and daughter Becky Elswick; three grandchildren, Sarah Bryan, Cearra Scarberry (married to Kyle Scarberry), and Cassee Adkins (married to Jamie Adkins); and five great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings, Teresa Chaput Burkhart, Rosie Chaput Plauche, Ed Chaput, Genie Chaput Amabile, and Bill Chaput. She is preceded by her brothers Bob Chaput and Raymond Chaput, her sister DeeDee Chaput Owens Keegan, and her son-in-law Mike Elswick. She is also survived by many dear friends, including Nancy Bigger and Eula Hill. Mary had a successful banking and loan career and specialized in student loans, where she got to encourage many people. Mary was always a driven woman who embodied strength and poise, and she served others selflessly. She was a loving and nurturing Nana, a deeply thankful mother, and a loyal friend until the day she died. Mary Beth was a teacher at heart who taught many lessons, whether it was about parenting, prayer, writing, gardening, or life itself. She equipped her family with impactful tools for life: how to take care of oneself, how to live tastefully, and how to appreciate beauty through a sunset, meaningful music, or a walk by the willow trees at the park.  Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com .
