Mary Ellen Newman,94, of Proctorville, Ohio formerly of Huntington, WV passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born on September 30, 1928 in Huntington, WV the daughter of Elton Hunter Sr and Inez Kincaid Hunter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Newman Sr.; son, James Lawrence Newman; and three brothers, Dennis Michael Hunter, Elton Hunter Jr. and Donald Hunter; and sister, Leatta Hinchman. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Fran Newman; step-son, Joe Newman; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was a life long member of Vinson Christian Church and worked for J.C. Penny's. Friend may call from 12 until service time at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
