Maxine Akers, 89, of Ceredo, entered the embrace of our Lord on June 9, 2011 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. She was born July 28, 1921 in Ceredo, WV to the late Alva and Josephine (Jarrell) Carver. Mrs. Akers united in marriage to Roy Earl Akers, who preceded her in death. To this union were born one daughter and two sons, Barbara (Dennis) Adkins of Ceredo, Michael (Pamela) Akers of Huntington, and Terry Lee Akers who also preceded her in death. Survivors include a brother Wm. Howard Carver of Ceredo, six grandchildren Susan Diane (Gary) Smith, Robin (David) Dunkle, Brian (Kim) Akers, Tracie (Billie) Conn, Jessica (Jason) Copeland, and Nathan Akers along with ten great grandchildren and five Great-great grandchildren. Other survivors include special friends Frances Armstrong, Bea Eagleston, Sam & Rosalee Hardwick, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Akers was also preceded in death by five siblings, Bertha Lou Pyles, Jimmy Lee Carver, James Curtis Carver, Vernon Carver, and Bobby Lee Carver. Visitation will be at 10am Monday at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11am Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Mullens officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donation to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. These may be made at the funeral home.
