Melissa Dawn Effingham

Melissa Dawn Effingham, 53, of Kenova, wife of William “Charlie” Effingham, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born September 10, 1965 in Huntington daughter of Raleigh Joe and Janet Davis Sowder. Missy finished her courageous battle with cancer on this earth and is now with her first born daughter, Hanna Marie alongside their Heavenly Father. She was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Kenova and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 159 of Whites Creek. In addition to a daughter she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Roy and Frances Ray Davis; and her paternal grandparents, Barnett and Suse Sowder. Survivors in addition to her parents and her husband include her loving daughter, Abigail Grace Effingham and fiancé Brendan Gozowsky and the rest of her family whom she loved dearly; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mendy and Chuck Bays, Michelle and Eric Adkins; a niece, Morgan Adkins; nephews include, Willie and Paige Bays, Cody and Arianna Bays, D.J. and Savannah Bays; nine great nieces and nephews; and an uncle and aunt, Donald and Paula Davis. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Scott Byard at 2 pm Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, WV.
