Melva Junior Scarberry

Melva Junior Scarberry, 91, of Huntington, widower of Mary Margaret Morris Scarberry, passed away Tuesday July 25, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Friday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Jerry Matt. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. He was born March 6, 1926 in Glenwood, WV, a son of the late Columbus Jackson 'Jack' Scarberry and Calla F. Nida Scarberry. He was a retired steelworker and a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. In addition to his wife and parents he was also preceded in death by a grandson Bruce C. Scarberry, II; two brothers Alvia C. Scarberry and Willey Raymond Scarberry and two sisters Anna Louise Scarberry Venoy and Vergie May Scarberry Shoemaker. Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law Bruce C. and Cecilia R. Scarberry and Melva J. Scarberry, II and two grandchildren Thomas J. Scarberry and Megan M. Scarberry. Melva was raised by Colonel Bailey Jenkins and Emma Jane Morris. Friends may call from 1 pm until service time on Friday at the Reger Funeral Home.
