MICHAEL EDWARD CUNNINGHAM, 62, of Huntington, husband of Loretta Bird Cunningham, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in St. Mary?s Medical Center. He graduated from Vinson High School and Marshall University, where he received a B.E.S. degree in engineering and lettered in baseball. After 32 years with INCO Alloys, he retired in 1998 as Director of Administration. He was a member of Vinson Memorial Christian Church. Pastor Chris Farrow will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Mike was born April 1, 1942, in Huntington, W.Va., the son of the late Morris Edward and Bertha Owen Cunningham. His brother, David Morris Cunningham preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Loretta Bird Cunningham. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Karen Cunningham of Huntington; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Cindy and Steve Shy of Wheeling, W.Va., and Kristi and Mike Short of Huntington; eight wonderful grandchildren whom he considered his 'pride and joy,' Hunter, Mera and Reese Cunningham, Stephen, Paige and Cody Michael Shy and Savannah and Crosby Short; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Andy Banfi of Ceredo, W.Va.; mother-in-law, Leota Bird of Huntington; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jackie Cunningham of Annapolis, Md., Clinton and Eulanda Bird of Barboursville, W.Va., Dreema and Bill Niesel of Powell, Ohio, and Donna and Joe Burns of Lebanon, Ohio; and several very special nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Reger Funeral Home.
