Michael Ray Nester

Michael Ray Nester, 69, of Russell, KY, husband of Carla Sansbury Nester, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Kings Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY. He was born October 29, 1954, in Pineville, WV, a son of the late Douglas and Carolyn Nester. Michael was a project manager with AEP who loved golfing, travel and fishing. His greatest sense of joy was his family, especially his grandkids. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son in law, Ronnie Carpenter. Additional survivors include his children, Megan (Tom) Kibler of Russell, KY, Micah Duff of Point Pleasant, W.Va. and Sacha Carpenter of Ripley, W.Va.; grandkids, Michael DeWeese and Shelby DeWeese both of Russell, KY, Dalton Duff of Mason, W.Va., Dylan Duff and Drew Duff both of Point Pleasant, W.Va., and Emily Carpenter of Charleston, W.Va. and Zeke Carpenter of Ripley, W.Va.; great grandchild, Lielah Carpenter; siblings, Steven (Sera) Nester of South Point, Ohio, Valinda (Bill) Imes of Ashland, KY, Reggie (Cindy) Nester of Ceredo, W.Va. and Lisa (Jimmy) Maynard of Ceredo, W.Va.; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family that will miss him dearly. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 PM Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington, by Pastor Scott Byard.
