Mildred Pulley

November 19, 1925 — March 27, 2005

MILDRED A. PULLEY, 79, of South Point, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord and her loving husband of 46 years, Everett Pulley Jr., on March 27, 2005, after an extended illness. She passed away peacefully in St. Mary?s Medical Center. Mrs. Pulley was born November 19, 1925, in Ironton, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Lucy Kibby Abrams. She served as owner/administrator of Pulley Nursing Home and Pulley Care Center in South Point, Ohio, and Fairhaven Rest Home in Huntington, W.Va., and was one of the founding members of Christ Temple Church in Huntington, West Virginia, serving on its board. She also served on the board for the Council of Aging in Lawrence County, Ohio, as well as the board for the Senior Citizen?s Center and Democratic Party Association, also in Lawrence County, Ohio. She was a member of the board that first established the criteria for nursing home administrators; licensure in the state of Ohio. She was known as 'Mimi' to a generation of young girls known as 'The Blossoms' at Christ Temple, mentoring their spiritual development, etiquette and manners. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Hannahs of Ironton, Ohio. She is survived by five daughters, Thelma Watters and her husband, Michael, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bobbie McCall and her husband, Ron, of South Point, Ohio, Jackie Oliver of Huntington, West Virginia, Janet Leedy and her husband, Bill, of South Point, Ohio, and Cindy Byrd and her husband, Allen, of South Point, Ohio; one godson, Bradley Roberts of Poca, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Theron and Jennifer Watters of Indianapolis, Indiana, Rett and Jame Watters of Kitts Hill, Ohio, Tony and Jamie Howard and Paul Howard of Chesapeake, and Jaiden Byrd of South Point, Ohio; two god-grandchildren, Brean Watters and Bridget Watters of Huntington, West Virginia; seven great-grandchildren, Brook Howard, Kyle Howard, Lindsey Watters, Tanner Howard, Brayden Howard, Kyan Howard and Kenny Watters; one brother, Ike Abrams of Ironton, Ohio; four sisters, Ethel Jackson of Ironton, Ohio, Betty Lassiter of St. Petersburg, Florida, Carol Wilson of Ironton, Ohio, and Nancy Jackson of Ironton, Ohio; and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Christ Temple Church, 2400 Johnstown Road, Huntington, West Virginia, and after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Christ Temple Church with Pastor Chuck Lawrence, Pastor Dwight Mays, Pastor Jim Hannahs and Pastor Keith Watters officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Lawrence, Harold Hunter, Pat Michaels, Steve Cartmell, Todd Hunter and Ronnie Stewart with Virgil Sexton and Barney Sexton serving as honorary pallbearers. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio.
