Minnie Mae Martin

December 31, 1913 — July 28, 2015

Minnie M. Martin, 101, passed away July 28, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, after a brief illness. She was born December 31, 1913 in Sciotoville, OH to the late John M. Isaac and Ella Crockett Isaac . She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Martin, her daughter Janice Beuhring (Larry) of Chesapeake, OH, brother Raymond of Leona, CA, sister Dolly K. DeSantis of Indian Rocks Beach, FL and beloved nephew Bobby M. Stone of Huntington. She was a retired medical secretary for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Huntington, WV. She is survived by son Gregory, son-in-law Larry Beuhring of Chesapeake, OH, granddaughters Karen Corns of Titusville, FL, Beverly Thornburgh (Conrad) of Valrico, FL, and Laura Beuhring of Denver, CO. Her great grandchildren are Sarah and Kayla Corns of Titusville, FL, Andrew Thornburgh (Stephanie) of Lakeland, FL, Angela Thornburgh(Ashton) of Fairfax VA and two beloved nephews, Edward Stone (Alice)of Huntington and Charles S. Stone (Ardella) of Winter Garden, FL. A life-long member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church, she knew no greater joy than participating in all aspects of church activities, especially her circle workshop that created many hand made items to support the church’s Fall Bazaar. She excelled and delighted in doll making. Being unable to attend services in recent years made her very appreciative of the many cards sent to her by her Sunday school class, the Care Team, Methodist Youth Group and the many individuals who took the time to write her. The many visits by her ministers, church friends, relatives and neighbors were all much appreciated and fondly recalled. She stopped participating with her bowling team at age 90, missing the camaraderie of her teammates very much. After taking a painting class her interest in painting grew into more classes and many pleasant hours of painting for her own amusement throughout her 70’s and 80’s. The creative process of applying paint to canvass was a joy unto itself. The enjoyment of family, church, her circle workshop, activities and friends did much to mold a life well lived. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Saturday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Tom Nolan. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the Reger Funeral Home. Condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com.
