Monica Josephine (Tonkovich) Compton, of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. She was born in Fairmont, WV on December 15, 1951, to the late Mildred Napalo Tonkovidh and Joseph Tonkovich. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Compton, Mitch Napalo, and a shih tzu, Josephine "Josie" Marie. Monica was a graduate of Farmington High School and WVU School of Pharmacy. She was an avid learner and continued her education at every opportunity. She worked full time as a pharmacist until her retirement. The well being of her patients was always a top priority. Monica is survived by Angela "Annie" Grace, her loving shih tzu, many cousins, family members and dear friends. Monica was a devout Catholic and her faith was central to her everyday life. She attended mass regularly, participated in the sacraments, and was known to pray the rosary daily. She was the go to person for offering prayer and lighting candles on behalf of anyone in need. Her love for the Blessed Virgin Mary was a great influence in her compassion, kindness and dedication to others. She will be remembered for her deep devotion to Christ, Our Lord. The funeral liturgy will be conducted for Monica at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 19, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Chesapeake, Ohio. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service, 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal will be conducted at a later date in her home town of Fairmont, West Virginia at Holy Cross Cemetery. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
