MRS. NETTIE FERN GIBSON TURLEY, 94, of Frisco, Texas, formerly of Huntington, W.Va., for over 35 years and Fairmont, W.Va., for over 40 years, passed away Friday, February 6, 2004 in Presbyterian Hospital, Plano, Texas. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, February 14, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Services to be conducted by Rev. David Richards. She was a homemaker, a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Huntington, W.Va., First Presbyterian Church, Fairmont, W.Va., where she was a Women?s Circle Chair leader for over 32 years. In the late 1930s along with other concerned mothers, developed, supported and caused to be put in place a prototypical 'Hot Lunch' program for all children at Cabell Elementary School. She was born on April 4, 1909, in Shoals, W.Va., the daughter of the late G. Harrison and Era Powers Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Turley; one son, Richard Lee Turley; and three sisters, Mrs. Jane Olen Frizzell, Mrs. Era Oakley Meisel and Mrs. Ella Margie Boggs Newsome. She is survived by two sons, William H. Turley Sr. and his wife Sharon Lynn Rhodes Turley of Frisco, Texas, Robert G. Turley and his wife Margaret Turley of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one brother, Benjamin H. Gibson and his wife Pat Gibson of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen R. and Alice Turley of Colorado Springs, Co., Lynn Turley Bell and her husband Ben of Rosenberg, Texas, Diane Turley Beck and her husband Steve of Brownwood, Texas, William H. Turley Jr. of Richardson, Texas, Jan M. Turley of Spokane, Wash., and James D. Turley and his wife Christina of Havertown, Pa.; great-grandchildren Paul Turley of Colorado Springs, Colo., Brandon Richards and Gerald Bell of Rosenberg, Texas, Thomas, Brandis and Jeffrey Beck of Brownwood, Texas, Ryan and Samantha Turley of Richardson, Texas, Dechen Edwards of Spokane, Wash., James Jr. and Alexander Turley of Havertown, Pa. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2004, at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, W.Va. Contributions may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, 901 Jefferson Avenue, Huntington, WV 25704.
