VIRGINIA-LOU McKEOWN died peacefully on Oct. 31, 2012, at age 87 in her Woodlands home in Huntington, W.Va., with family by her side. She lived a full life with graciousness and kindness. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on June 16, 1925, the daughter of Louis and Virginia Hurwitz Austin, she graduated from Germantown High School and Kutztown College, Pa. She spent her adult years as hostess at Capon Springs & Farms resort, a WV family business. She served as a Girl Scout leader and President of The Partnership Foundation. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Philadelphia, First Baptist Church in Winchester, Va., and most recently Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington. She is survived by her husband, Harry L. McKeown, her childhood sweetheart, married for 66 years; her daughters, Bonni McKeown of Chicago, Laurie McKeown of Huntington and Marylin McKeown of Charleston, W.Va.; her son-in-law, Douglas Imbrogno of Huntington; her grandchildren, Lou and husband Ben Gilmore of New Bern, N.C., Lucas Imbrogno McKeown and Grace Imbrogno McKeown of Huntington, W.Va.; her great-grandchildren, Mia, A.J. and Wes Gilmore; her brother, Ted Austin of Winchester, Va.; her sister-in-law, Eunice Lee Austin of Winchester, Va.; her cousin, Virginia Doris Austin of San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews and their children. She is preceded in death by her brother, Porter Austin, and her sister, Claire Bellingham; and her nephew, Brent Austin. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Capon Springs, W.Va.
