Patty Marie Nash

Patty Marie Nash, 69, of Catlettsburg, KY joined the Lord while surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Patty was born on February 1, 1955 in Huntington, WV to Cecil and Hester Simmons. Her passion for nursing led her to become a Registered Nurse, working at Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center for 35 years specializing in the ICU. She was the AFGE union President from 2010 until her retirement in 2021. Patty loved spending time gardening, landscaping, tending to her ponds and enjoying the beautiful hummingbirds she so perfectly attracted to her oasis. Surviving are her life partner Edward Zickafoose; her son, Jim Blankenship and his wife Faith; two grandsons, Zane Rider and his wife Samantha, and Liam Blankenship; her sister, Barbara Crossan and partner Larry Avery; her best friend, Lisa Spurlock; her beloved black lab, Tank; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and big brother, Cecil Simmons Jr. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Reger Funeral Home in Huntington, WV. Graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday, June 24, 2024, at Docks Creek Cemetery, with words of comfort by Rev. Amos Simmons.
