Rachel Caref Amsbary, 53, of Huntington, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. She was born June 29, 1971, in Chicago, IL. Rachel enjoyed a rewarding career in publishing before embarking on the adventures of motherhood. Most recently she was a beloved member of the Marshall Health Department of Surgery as the Clerkship Coordinator. She was a lifelong lover of books and an avid supporter of public libraries. Rachel was happiest with her husband, watching their children dance and play ball, standing in a gallery of an art museum and walking the shelves of bookstores. She expressed her love for family and friends through her undeniable culinary genius. Above all, she was an elegant, principled and humble woman, a mother, wife, daughter and friend with a whip smart sense of humor and a heart of gold. Rachel is survived by her husband, David D. Amsbary; children, Charlie, Josephine and Stuart; mother, Brenda Caref; father, Shelly Caref (Nelly); sister, Lori (Pete); brother, David; In Laws, Ann Amsbary and the late David M. Amsbary; sisters in law, Elizabeth (Chuck), Rebecca (Herb) and Bridget (Shawn); brothers in law, Chris (Jessica) and Loren and many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral Liturgy will be conducted at 11 am Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Monsignor Dean Borgmeyer. The family will receive friends from 10 am until service time at the church. Rite of Committal will be private for the family with a celebration of Rachel's life being held at 6 pm on Saturday at the family's residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Breakthrough T1D, PO Box 5021, Hagerstown, MD, 21741-5021.
