Roger Keith Lucas, 69, of Huntington, West Virginia left his loving family after a valiant battle against cancer. Roger was born on October 1, 1950 in West Hamlin, West Virginia to the late Chauncey and Opal Lucas. Roger graduated from Guyan Valley High School then joined the military, where he served 11 years of active duty in the Air Force and 9 years in the Air National Guard before retiring. While active in his military career, Roger worked for West Virginia American Water, where he also retired after 33 years. Roger was proceeded in death by five brothers; Dale Lucas, Dwayne (Pat) Lucas, Jim (Carol) Lucas, Allen (Peggy) Lucas, Bud (Lou) Lucas, one sister; Esther (Don) Martens, and nephew; Jonathan Porter. Roger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Billie Jean Lucas; his two sons; Roger Keith Lucas II (Lisa) and Rodd Lucas; and one daughter; Tina Hazlett (Mike). Six grandkids, who were the light of his life; Chase, Cameron, and Chloe Lucas; Taylor and Lucas Hazlett; and Zackary Lucas. Roger is also survived by his brother Fred (Jeanie) Lucas and two sisters; Karen (George) Porter and Sharon (Ronnie) Lucas. Roger will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Being the youngest of ten children, Roger was cherished by his brothers and sisters. In return, Roger had immense love for his siblings, as well as a very special bond between his many nieces and nephews. Equally important to Roger was the relationships he had with his brother-in-law, Chuck (Carolyn) Adkins and his sister-in-law, Kathy (Ronnie) Hutchison. There wasn’t a problem Roger couldn’t fix or anything he couldn’t build. Roger’s unwavering strength and selflessness made him the center of his family’s life. He was an extraordinary man who loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He especially loved and adored his wife, Billie. His unmeasurable love for her served as an inspiration to anyone who knew them. A celebration of life will be held at Reger Funeral Home in Huntington, West Virginia.
