Rose Marie Stone

June 10, 1933 — September 25, 2023

In loving memory of our mother Rose Marie Bias Stone, age 90 of Huntington went home to be with the Lord September 25, 2023 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Rose was the devoted wife of Robert(Bob) Stone and loving mother of 5 children. Rose will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person, who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a very strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Our mother was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone's lives she touched.

Growing up Rose was always there for us, whether we needed help with homework or just a shoulder to cry on. Rose was a woman of strong faith, and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Our mother was a true role model who we will always look up to.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Nellie Bias, her spouse Robert Stone, brothers Cline Bias (Reva), Dan Bias (Sylvia), Clifford Bias, Lester Bias (Rosella), Raymond Bias (Faye), Charles Bias Jr. and sisters Ruby Bias and Roberta Palkovic, two sons David and Kevin Stone. Rose was a member of Westmoreland Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in 1966.

Rose was born June 20, 1933 in Hamlin, Wva in a log cabin on a tobacco farm, the first daughter of Charles and Nellie Bias. She graduated from Hamlin High School in 1950 at 16 being double promoted. Rose moved to Huntington shortly after high school, where she lived with good friends and worked at the cigar factory living on Reese cups and Pepsi. Rose then met her spouse and married Bob at age 19 on February 12, 1953 and devoted her life to raising her children. Later in life she took great pride in being a personal care sitter.

Rose's door was always open to anyone who needed a listening ear and cup of coffee. Her quiet spirit created a place of refuge and peace. Rose was an avid reader, loved gardening, a champion scrabble player, loved her game shows and in her younger years loved sleigh riding with her children.

Rose is survived by her three daughters, Sheila Chapman (Greg) of Dayton, Ohio, Paula Stone and Lisa Stone (Tag) both of Huntington, eleven grandchildren, Scott Chapman (Elizabeth) of Waco, Texas, A. Chapman, Charles Chapman of Xenia, Ohio, Summer Figueroa of Dayton, Ohio, Megan Madden, Amanda Madden (Jamie) both of Huntington, Hope Madden of Xenia, Ohio, Tia Stone, Ashley Schaff (Mike), Daniel Stone ( Rachel), Derrick Stone, all of Reno Nevada and a special niece Diana Bias of Milton, Wva. and 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends and her life long friend Helen Bledsoe. One of her greatest joys was helping raise her great granddaughter Khloe Madden.

The funeral services will be held at Reger Funeral Home, 1242 Adams Ave. Huntington, WVa. On Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 1pm. Services will be officiated by Pastor Ryan Massie. Pallbearers will be some of Rose's grandchildren: Scott Chapman, Chad Chapman, Summer Figueroa, Megan Madden, Amanda Madden, Hope Madden and Khloe Madden.

Visitation for friends and family is Saturday, September 30 from 11am to 1 pm prior to the funeral services at Reger. Burial to follow services at Dock's Creek Cemetery. The funeral will be live-streamed on the funeral home website, www.regerfh.com.

Reception immediately following burial at Fairland Southern Baptist Church, 10178 County Rd 107, Proctorville, OH 45669. Thank you to many friends and family who have brought so much comfort to Roses's family at this sad time. When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be.
