Royal Gene Thacker

Royal Gene Thacker, 80, of Pompano Beach, FL., formerly of Huntington, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Holy Cross Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Carl Lilly. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Military rites will be conducted by Veterans Honor Guard. Gene was a veteran of the US Air Force and the US Army with 27 years and the recipient of the Bronze Star having served in the Korean War and two tours of Viet Nam. He was the owner and operator of Syndor RTE Distribution. Gene was born on August 27, 1930 in Huntington,WV the son of the late Thurman and Alma Barnett Thacker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons: Bradley Gene and Jeffrey Alan Thacker, one brother: Donald G. Thacker and one sister: Geraline Holly. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia Sweeney Thacker, a daughter: Rebecca Thacker, a granddaughter Lindsey Thacker and a great granddaughter: Kalyn Wood all of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Three brothers: Johnny D., Paul R. and Dallas K.
