Ruth Elizabeth Finley Ruth Elizabeth Finley, 92, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Woodlands Retirement Center. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Monsignor Lawrence Luciana and Bishop Norman Jones, Sr. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Ruth was born on June 17, 1923, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of the late Arthur Arindall Forte and Emma Cordelia Crawford Forte Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Finley; brother, Jack Forte and sister, Lillian Thurston. Ruth was a graduate of Douglass High School and Marshall University with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting and worked in accounting for Qualpeco Industries until her retirement. She then became the owner and operator of her own boutique. Ruth and her husband James traveled extensively in the United States; but, after his death, Ruth expanded her travel worldwide. Ruth was very active in the Huntington community having served on the YMCA Board of Directors; was a charter member of the Fitzpatrick Society at the Huntington Museum of Art and chair of the scholarship committee of the Carter G. Woodson Memorial Foundation. Through Catholic Daughters, she volunteered with several organizations. She was twice appointed to the Cabell-Wayne Public Defender board of directors, served two terms with the Democratic Executive Committee, was a member of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women and life-time member of the NAACP. Ruth held a platinum membership in LINKS, was a charter member of the Charleston-Huntington Smart Set and a member of Our Lady Fatima Catholic Church. Ruth is survived by her step-daughter and spouse, Blanche and Howard Greene; grandchildren, Howard Greene, Jr. and Karen Greene, Leslie Greene and James Greene, Sr. and Louann Greene; great grandchildren, James Greene, Jr. and Michael Greene; nieces, Barbara Forte Johnson, Penny Jacobs and Priscilla Davis; very special friends, Dolores Johnson and Drs. Loretta and Stephen Gunn and a host of great nieces, nephews, family and friends. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com.
