On April 9, 2017, the Heavenly Father called home an angel from earth, Ruthie Weiler Dascoli. Ruthie was beautiful, selfless, generous and graceful. She was called from St. Mary’s Hospital on the morning of Palm Sunday celebrating Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem arriving in glory and peace. Ruthie was born in Huntington on April 3, 1943 to the late Francis Xavier Weiler, Sr. and Kathryn Kearney Weiler. She was also preceded by her sister Catherine K. Weiler, and brothers Frank X. Weiler, Jr., and John David Weiler. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended Marshall University. She was a homemaker raising four children for many years before working at her family’s business Weiler Steel where she was a shareholder. Ruthie was a member of the Junior League of Huntington and spent countless hours attending school events with her children. Before Weiler Steel Ruthie dabbled in politics and sold real estate. Her kids and their friends often congregated at Ruthie’s house on North Englewood Road in Huntington where they always felt welcomed. Later in years Ruthie lavished attention on her grand kids and great grand kids. Ruthie was up on current events always watching the news channels when not viewing her favorite TV crime shows. Ruthie is survived by her four children, Carl John Dascoli Jr. and his wife Gabriela of Charleston, WV, Jennifer Dascoli and her children Thomas Halloran, III and Gretchen Halloran of Charleston, WV, Gretchen Dascoli Wray and husband Carl of Proctorville, Ohio, Gretchen's daughter Christine Raines and granddaughter Ava Marie Williams, Gretchen's son Michael Raines and Grandchildren Jamikal and Jamaria all of Huntington, WV, John Francis Dascoli and his wife Allison and daughters Nina and Sophia of Charleston, WV. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Jane Weiler Rose of the Villages, Fla., Frances Weiler Johnson of Logan, WV, and her brothers James J. Weiler, II and his wife Betty, and Charles Weiler, all of Huntington. Ruthie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org. Funeral liturgy will be conducted at noon Saturday, April 15 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church located in Huntington, WV. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
