Sandra Lee 'Sandy' Marcum, 74 of Huntington, W.Va., died Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born January 12, 1941 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Hugh Edward 'Buss' Marcum and Bonnie Marie Thompson Marcum. She was also preceded in death by her brother David Marcum, her sister Connie Coyle, and her sister-in-law Victoria Marcum. She is survived by her brother Ronald Bruce Marcum of Barboursville, W.Va.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Louis Elam of Seminole, Fl.; her sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Marcum of Chesapeake, Ohio; her brother – in- law Lindal Coyle of Chesapeake, Ohio; and is a special 'Aunt Sonsee' to nieces and nephews Doug Marcum (Kelly), Theresa Marcum, Sarah Price (Stephen), Kim Oldaker, Melissa Mamula (Christopher), Veronica Hughes (Matthew), Randall Coyle (Bronya), Melinda Taylor (Troy), Melody Bulso (Joseph), and Michael Elam (Christine). She is also survived by 22 great nieces and nephews, a great-great nephew and niece, and many other family and friends that loved her dearly. Sandra was a graduate of Huntington High School, attended Marshall University and graduated from Wiseman Business College. She was employed by the Huntington Police Department for over 25 years, where she was the first female civilian radio dispatcher for the department. Sandy was very supportive of police department activities, assisting with the Gold Star Lodge #65 Annual Children's Christmas Party and providing correspondence and secretarial support for the Huntington Fraternal Order of the Police (F.O.P.). She was a member of the Eastern Star, and the Huntington Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (A.W.B.A.), where she was awarded Business Woman of the Year. For several years, she was housemother for the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Marshall University and retired from the City of Huntington Garage. She was a faithful election poll worker and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking, and cheering the Thundering Herd to victory. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Monday at the Reger Funeral Chapel with Matthew Hughes officiating. Committal service will be in the Ridgelawn Memorial Park Masoleum, Huntington. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Monday at the Reger Funeral Home. Nephews Stephen Price, Chris Mamula, Nathan Elam, Tyler Coyle, Seth Landrum, and Ryan Taylor will serve as pallbearers. Condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com.
