Simon Silver Adkins

Simon Silver Adkins, 64, of Kenova died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. He was born June 3, 1945 in Ranger, WV to the late Moses and Ernestine (Williams) Adkins. Mr. Adkins had been employed by the Jim C. Hamer Lumber Company of Kenova and the City of Kenova for many years. He united in marriage to Nellie (Burgess) Adkins who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Terry and Debbie Adkins of Lavalette, Ernie Duvall of Kenova, Gary and Tina Adkins of Guyandotte, Patricia and Scott Arnett of Catlettsburg, Belinda and Paul Phillip of Ontario, Canada, and Bonita and Billy Moore of Kenova. Other survivors include four brothers and sisters, Clifford and Patty Adkins of Salt Rock, Richard Adkins of Iowa, Odie and Everett Odell of Cleveland, OH, and Jean and Junior Bryant of Fayetteville, NC. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Amanda Childers, Courtnie Wilson, Joey Hammond, Crissy Stewart, Dustin Duvall, Cody Duvall, Cameron Arnett, Caylie Adkins, and Terribrooke Adkins, along with five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by a brother Everett Adkins and a sister-in-law Sue Adkins. Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Wednesday at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the Docks Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donation to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. These may be made at the funeral home.
