Steven Wilkes

Steven Ray Wilkes, 51 of Kenova passed away at his home on Sunday, June 21, 2009. He was a disabled brick mason. Mr. Wilkes was born the son of the late Dickie R. Wilkes and Doris L. Mays. Also preceding him in death were his special mother-in-law, Roberta Gibson and grandmother, Izora Ransbottom. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Gibson Wilkes, daughter, Stephanie Wilkes, step-father, Ted O. Mays and four brothers, Carl (Linda) Wilkes, Teddy E. Mays, Terry (Charity) Mays and Todd Mays. He also leaves two brothers-in-law, Butch (Leslie) Gibson and John (Pam) Gibson and one sister-in-law, Brenda Rutherford. Missing him also will be a number of nephews and nieces whom he adored. Pallbears will be Teddy Mays, Terry Mays, Todd Mays, Carl Wilkes, II, Nick Wellman, Nate Wilds, Danny Smith and John Gibson. Funeral services will be conducted at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 1:00 pm by Rev. Tim Crabtree. Burial will follow in Getaway Cemetery in Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
