Terry Lee Akers

Terry Lee Akers, 66 of Ceredo died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at his residence. He was born February 5, 1940 in Ceredo a son to Maxine Carver Akers of Ceredo and the late Roy Earl Akers. Mr. Akers was of the Baptist faith. He was a proud Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from Armco Steel. Mr. Akers was a member of the Ceredo Crescent Lodge #32, the VFW Post #8429 of Ceredo, and the American Legion Post #93 of Kenova. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Ann Akers. Mr. Akers is survived by two daughters; Susan Diane Smith and Gary Wayne of Culloden and Tracie Carol Conn and Billy of Ceredo; and a son Brian Lee Akers and Kimberly Dawn of Somerset, KY. Additional survivors include a sister, Barbara Adkins and her husband Dennis of Ceredo and a brother, Michael Akers and his wife Pam of Ceredo. Mr. Akers also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Dustin, Sara Beth, Amanda, Shannon, Rachel, Whitney, and Isaiah. Funeral Services for Mr. Akers will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Mullens officiating. Burial will follow at the Crescent Hill Cemetery. Graveside Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion Post #93 of Kenova. Visitation will be from 7-9pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Huntington. These may be made at the funeral home.
