Thomas Jefferie Cook

August 1, 1953 — January 18, 2018

THOMAS JEFFERIE COOK. Although met with challenges from the beginning of his life, Tommy walked through his 64 years living from a gentle, kind, loving spirit and living a life deeply devoted to family. As a youngster he and his side-kick/brother, David, would often sing together, and he could hit all the high notes in the Four Seasons songs. Tommy loved sports and could throw a football farther than anyone. Baseball was another passion, and he was a devoted Cincinnati Reds fan. He loved everything about Christmas, the tree, lights (which he wanted up year-round) and every Christmas movie. In fact, westerns and movies about any aspect of the military were his favorites. He would watch videos about firemen and firefighting and routinely walk the neighborhood to check to make sure his neighbors' houses were fire safe. He would go out of his way to help anyone he could. Even living as a boy with teasing and bullying, he was always even tempered with the most forgiving heart. Tommy stepped into heaven January 14, 2018. The family will always be grateful for all the loving, attentive care he received at King's Daughters Hospital in Ashland, Ky. He was born to Thomas Cook and Faith Workman Stanton August 1, 1953, in Huntington. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1972. He was so very proud to serve in the Navy in 1974, and there will never be anyone more patriotic than Tommy as evidenced by the camo clothing he loved to wear. His first son, Jeffery Scott, was born in 1975. He married his beloved wife, Kathy Perkins, in 1977 and then his sons Thomas Alan and Jeffrey Alan were born. Tommy is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Scott, Thomas Alan and Jeffrey Alan, grandchildren, Zach Pratt (Victoria) of Oklahoma, Oceania Marie Staley of Prichard, Tyler Alan Cook of Ashland, and a great-grandson, Ethan, his mother and stepfather, Bill and Faith Stanton, stepmother, Louise Cook, siblings, Brenda Burchett (Alan) of California, Charity Haun of Huntington, Paul David (Melanie) of Maryland and Bryan (Jeanette) of Huntington. Tommy is now reunited with his wife, Kathy (1999), father, Thomas (1983), brother, Mark (1986), and his beloved birds, especially Sergeant T. A graveside service with military honors at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, W.Va., will be held Monday, January 29, at 1 p.m. www.regerfh.com.
