Vasilia (Bess) Nicholas Fotos (92) fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, June 3, 2024, peacefully. She follows her husband, George Pete Fotos, married 67 years, into eternity. Bess was originally from Maysville, Kentucky, the daughter of Greek immigrants, Strati Nicholas, a restaurateur and Kyriaki (Kalaitsis) Nicholas where they raised their four children. She was predeceased by her husband, a sister, Frances Sarakatsanis (Leonidas), of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, and brother James Nicholas (Margaret) of Jupiter, Florida respectively. She is survived by three sons, Peter George Fotos (Angelica), of Louisville, Kentucky, Alexander George Fotos (Suzanne), and Stratius George Fotos (Donna) both of Huntington, and a sister, Becky Georgeton (John) of Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition, she leaves behind five grandchildren, Stephanie (Michael), Gloria, Rebecca, Elizabeth (Cory), and Stratius (Lyndsay), and three great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Ryan, and Ellie, and many God-children, nieces and nephews. George and Bess owned and operated several businesses in Huntington, most notably, Huntington Piano & Organ Co. formerly on Washington Avenue. She was a graduate of Maysville High School, and attended Western College in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a life-long member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Huntington and served a number of years as church school teacher, choir member and organist. Those who knew Bess will recall her ever-present welcoming smile, humility, empathy for others, and deep faith. Viewing will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 701, 11th Ave., Huntington, WV from 10AM to 11AM, Friday, June 7th, followed by the funeral at that church. Donations in her memory may be given to St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com. “As earthly suffering and death represent the entrance to eternal life, Bess now looks down upon us astonished at our sorrow as she possesses the spiritual vision of the angels and beholds God.”
May her Memory be Eternal in Christ.
