Vernon LeRoy Bolen, 73, of Huntington and widower of the late Mary Elizabeth Bolen passed away August 13, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital. He was born February 4, 1937, the son of the late Jewell Anoka Gussler and Elisha Bolen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, an infant and Roger Eugene Bolen, three brothers, Arthur, Donald, and George Bolen, two grandsons, Jacob Bolen and Delbert L. Christopher, and a sister-in-law Julia Bolen. Mr. Bolen was retired from the Marine Corp after serving his country thirty years. He was also, a member of the American Legion Post 93, in Kenova. Surviving him are two daughters, Nancy S. Bolen and Mabel A. Christopher, three sons, Charles (Patricia) Beckelheimer, Vernon L. Bolen Jr., Walter C. (Tammy) Bolen, all of Huntington. Additional survivors are his siblings; sisters, Maggie L. McNeely, Myrna J. Arrowood, and Wanda L. Dingess, all of Huntington, and Norma K. Cignoni, of South Point, Ohio, brothers, Curtis E. Bolen of Florida, Richard A. Bolen of Rhode Island and James F. Bolen of Barboursville. Mr. Bolen also leaves ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren plus a host of cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 17th at 2:00pm at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon until time of services.
