Walter H. “Sonny” Watson, Jr. passed away on Wednesday August 14, 2024, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born in West Chester, PA and lived most of his life in Logan County, WV, the son of Walter Sr. and Camilla Watson. He married Kathleen “Kathy” Mullarky Watson November 28, 1992, at their home in Chapmanville.
Sonny loved life and his passion for farming was always part of his daily activities, beginning with milking cows at his beloved farm in East Tennessee alongside his grandfather, George Robinson. He had a huge vegetable garden along with berries, fruit trees, chickens, and honeybees.
Prior to moving to Huntington, he retired from the Logan County Board of Education as Treasurer and Assistant Superintendent. His hard work ethic and his energy level were incredible. Walter is a graduate of Logan High School and obtained his bachelor’s and master’s in education from Marshall University.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patty Watson, and brother Jeff Watson, and brothers-in-law Pat Mullarky and Jack Rose.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by son Michael Allen Watson, daughter Sunny Ann Peyton (Jerry), two bonus children John Aaron McVey (Katee), Rosie Brydie (J.L.), five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory: siblings Bob Watson (Charlotte), Mike Watson (Jane), Kevin Watson (Vickie), and Marsha Watson, along with sibling in-laws Andy Mullarky, Mike Mullarky (Laura), Mary Jane Hall, Sheila Dailey (Greg), Judy Rose, and Leo Mullarky (Jodi), and many nieces and nephews.
Sonny’s life is truly beginning,

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Friends may call from 1 pm until service time on Saturday at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com.
