Wilda Mae Walden

Wilda Walden, 95, of Huntington, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 4, 2023. She was born on December 26, 1927 in Dunlow, WV to the late Wayne and Fairabelle Maynard Copley. She is now reunited with the love of her life Harley B. Walden. She was affectionately known as Mee Maw to her family and as our matriarch she held such love and concern for all of us. Her first question of the day was always “How is everyone.” She loved Jesus and her greatest desire for her family and all was that they know Him as their savior. After marrying Harley and having their five children mom went back to school and became an LPN. Her love of working in the nursery at CHH led her to open the first licensed day care center in Wayne County (Westmoreland Day Care Center). She was preceded in death by her husband Harley B. Walden; son, Harley D. Walden; daughter-in-law, Debbi Walden; brothers, Bill and Lawrence Copley; sisters, Sadie Copley Martin, Delsie Copley Auxier Maynard, Dori Copley Blevins, Rosalee Copley Maynard and infant Marie Copley. Survivors include four daughters, Margarette Walden of Huntington, W.Va., Linda White (Harry) of McConnellsville, Ohio, Patty Barnett (Roger) of Huntington, W.Va., and Sharon Mathis (Scott) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Terri Frasher (Aaron), Melissa Johnson, Courtney White, Zach Mathis, Emily Caughey (Evan), Derek Walden and Brooke Walden; four great grand-children, Ashton Frasher, Cooper Frasher, Isaiah Barnett-Johnson and Darren Johnson (Katie); as well as many nieces and nephews. After retirement she and Harley moved to Florida. Upon moving back to Huntington mom made her home with her daughter Margarette. Granddaughter Melissa was one of her loving care givers along with Cheryl Smith. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 12:00 pm until 1:00pm at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Page. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
