William Boyd Garbett

William Boyd Garbett, 84, of Ceredo, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Bill was a member of the United States Army having served in Vietnam. During his time in Vietnam he went missing and was presumed dead while he was held as a POW from October 1969 to October 1970. Bill was a security guard for St. Mary's Medical Center. He is preceded in death by a friend who as close as a brother, Larry Adkins. He is survived by his friend and caregiver, Terri Ward; her daughter, whom he treated like a granddaughter, Melissa Adkins; her children, Amber and Marlee Ortega; and his close friends, Randall Gillum, Richard Flynn, Logan Wells, Alvin Lewis, Sr., and Alvin Lewis, Jr. There will be a memorial service with graveside military rites conducted in the spring of 2023 at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com.
