William Chester Ekers, 75, of Prichard, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather died October 8, 2009 at the Hospice House of Huntington. He was born February 25, 1934 in Prichard, WV to the late Chester Field and Ella Lois (Lewis) Ekers. He was a member of the Laborers Local #543. Mr. Ekers proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was also a member of the Kenova American Legion Post #93. He united in marriage to Doris Joanne (Ward) Ekers who survives. To this union were born four children, William �Bill� Edwin (Donna Williamson)Ekers, Gaila Deanna Ekers Damron, Nolan Keith Ekers, and Ward Jeffrey Ekers who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and a son, Mr. Ekers was preceded in death by three brothers, John Wesley Ekers, Willis Vinson Ekers, Wondell Keneth Ekers, and one grandson Thomas Vinson Ekers. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Amanda Damron Robertson, Joshua Ekers, Brandon Ekers, Brandi Ekers Hooks, Jaron Ekers, Sarah Ekers, Nathan Ekers, Heather Damron Adkins, Tessa Ekers, and Kourtney Ekers; eight great-grandchildren, Zane, Aiden, Dustin, Kylei, Abagail, Alex, Cazzie, and Faith, brothers Charlie(Carolyn)Ekers, Walter Lee (Joyce) Ekers, Joe Ekers, and Sherrill Ekers; sisters Irene O�Neal, Wilma (Gerald) Underwood, and Wanda Dicky; sister in law Bonnie Ekers and a host of other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 12:00 Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Glen Kiah Williamson officiating. Visitation will be from 11am Monday until time of service at the funeral home.
