WILLIAM DOUGLAS WARD, 73, of Huntington passed away Monday, February 9, 2004, in the Huntington Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Funeral Services will be conducted at noon on Friday at the Seventh Avenue Baptist Church by Pastor Bob Withers. Burial Will be in Rome-Proctorville Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. He was born September 25, 1930, in Russellville, Ky., a son of the late Thomas and Louevennie Pulley Ward. He was a retired employee of the former Ward?s Donuts Shop. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Seventh Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June Elizabeth Barcus Ward; a brother, James Thomas Ward; a sister, Helen Ward Eller; a father and mother-in-law Virgil F. Barcus Sr. and Eva R. Barcus; sisters-in-law, Dolores A. Leonard and Sheila R. Barcus and brother-in-law, James F. Woodyard. Survivors include a son, James E. Ward of Huntington; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra Ann Ward and Julie L. and Kevin L. Myers, all of Huntington, and Diane E. and Bill Hardy of Proctorville, Ohio; four grandchildren Christopher William and Joshua Paul Hardy, both of Proctorville, and Jordan Tyler and Nathaniel Lee Myers, both of Huntington; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul E. Ward Sr. and Maxine Ward of Ashton, W.Va.; a sister, Elsie Noe of Adairville, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Lois Ward of Adairville, Ky., and Patricia Woodyard of Huntington; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Linda and Steve Saunders of Greer, S.C.; two brothers-in-law, George E. Leonard and Virgil Barcus Jr., both of Huntington and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank his special friend Tom Igou and all of the neighbors on California Street for all their kindness. Contributions may be made to the Seventh Avenue Baptist Church, 240 7th Ave. West, Huntington, WV 25701. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the Seventh Avenue Baptist Church. Howard P. Hall VFW Post 1064 of Huntington will perform military graveside rites. Reger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
