William R. Raines

William �Bill� Roy Raines, 87 of Huntington passed away November 14, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was born April 4, 1919 to the late William A and Martha Smith Raines of Dunlow, WV. He was preceded in death by his late wives Shirley Ann Wilson and Agnes M. Edwards; one beloved daughter in law Glenna Watts Raines; three brothers, Robert, Everett, and Allen Raines; and two sisters Fannie and Nellie. Bill and Shirley are survived by their children William H. (Glenna) Raines, Robert F. (Debbie) Raines, Sallie L. (Tom) Rakes, and Terry (Donna) Raines. Grandchildren, Stephanie Crum (Shane), Amy Brumfield (Richie), Abby, T.J., Christy, Ryan, and Colter Raines; and great grandsons Aaron Crum and Joshua Brumfield who dearly love and will greatly miss �Papaw Bill�. Also surviving is his dear and faithful friend Archie Perry along with Hale Miller, Ron Hampton, and Allen J. Marcum. Bill was an Army veteran and retired from Norfolk and Southern Railway. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kenova 110, Kentucky Horsetraders, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Bill was cared for at home until his death by his family and caregivers Ben Dennison and Michele Brown. This would not have been possible without the help of the entire staff of Sarah Care Adult Day Services, Ann Yates of MTS Ambulance services, the VA, and Hospice of Huntington. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Sarah Care Adult Day Services C/O Bill Raines Memorial Fund at Fifth Third Bank. This fund has been set up to assist other families in helping to care for their loved ones at home, however flowers are still welcome. Friends may call from 6-9pm Thursday at the funeral home.
